The Pokémon Company announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday that it will release a new weekly Pokétoon animated short for eight consecutive weeks. The first episode is now available on YouTube. New episodes will be released every Wednesday.

The first Pokétoon short, “POKÉTOON: Scraggy and Mimikyu,” premiered in June 2020 on the Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel. Eight shorts from the previous episode are available on that YouTube channel with English subtitles (although some shorts are voiceless).
Taku Inoue (MAN WITH A MISSION THE ANIMATION) is the animation director for the first short. Yoshiyuki Koie, who is also the producer of the Pokémon: Twilight Wings animated short series, is producing the animation. The short features Miyako Makio, Ryousuke Senbo, Shinichi Suzuki, and Shūya Yoshisato. Tsutomu Ikeda is drawing the backgrounds and Kei Tsuda is handling the music.
Two new short films in the series, “Hero ni Naritai Yanchamu”(Pancham Who Wants to Be a Hero) and “Yume no Tsubomi”(Dreaming Tsubomi) will premiere in May and June 2021.
The Pokémon Kids television channel then released the short film “Mattete ne Koiking” (Just Wait, Magikarp) in July 2021, the short film Poka-Poka MaguMaggu House” (Cozy Slugma House) in August 2021, the short film Gengar ni Nacchatta!?” (I Became a Gengar?!) in September 2021, the short film “Fubuki no Tsu Yasumi” (Summer Vacation Blizzard) in October 2021, and the short film “Purin no Uta” (Jigglypuff's Song) in December 2021.
