Bandai Namco Entertainment began streaming the latest trailer on Thursday for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, a new game in the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi arena fighting series. The trailer confirms characters from the Dragon Ball Super anime as well as Goku (Teen) from the original Dragon Ball anime. After filling out the 164-character roster, the trailer goes on to reveal characters from the Dragon Ball Z movies, as well as pre-order character Goku (Mini) from the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima anime, for a total of 182 characters.

Game producer Jun Furutani also previewed Episode Battles and Custom Battles. Episode Battles follow the stories of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Future Trunks, Frieza, Goku Black, and Jiren.

New characters revealed in Dragon Ball Super are Frieza Force Soldier, Cabba, Frost, Toppo, Cabba (Super Saiyan), and Cabba (Super Saiyan 2). New characters in the Dragon Ball Z movie include Broly (Z), Broly (Z, Super Saiyan), Broly (Z, Legendary Super Saiyan), Cooler, Cooler (Final Form), Metal Cooler, Android 13, Fusion Android 13, Super Garlic Jr., Dr. Wheelo, Lord Slug, Lord Slug (Giant Form), Turles, Bojack, Almighty Bojack, Hirudegarn, Tapion, Janemba, Super Janemba, and Super Gogeta (Z).

The game launches on October 11 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Those who pre-order the game will be able to unlock six characters early. The game will also come in a Premium Collector's Edition, a Deluxe Edition, and an Ultimate Edition. These editions will allow customers to play the game three days early.
The first 24 characters announced include Goku, Vegeta and their various forms and transformations. The list also includes Gohan in various ages and forms, multiple versions of Future Trunks, Videl, Beerus, Whis, Master Roshi at base and maximum power, Piccolo, Krillin, Yamcha, Android 17, Android 18, Android 16, Android 19, Dr. Gero (aka Android 20), Cell and his various forms, Cell Jr., King Cold, various forms of Buu, Goku (Super) Ultra Instinct-Sign-, Yajirobe, Mr. Satan, Chiaotzu, Nappa, Saibaman, Frieza and. his various forms, Cui, Dodoria, Zarbon, Guldo, Recoome, Burter, Jeice, Ginyu, Raditz, Dabura, Jiren, Super Vegito, Super Saiyan Broly (Full Power), Hit, Super Saiyan Kale (Berserk), Toppo, Dyspo, Kakunsa, Goku Black, Zamasu, Bardock, various versions of Baby, Syn Shenron, Omega Shenron, Pan, Goku Black Super Saiyan Rosé, Spopovich, Ribrianne, Roasie and Anilaza. The game also includes Trunks, Goten, Caulifla, Kale and various combinations of them and other characters.
The game features Episode Battle, a single-player mode from the perspective of eight different characters, with choices that can lead to “what if” scenarios that deviate from the original story. Custom Battle allows players to create battles with original scenes that can be uploaded online for others to fight. Included in that mode are Bonus Battles, pre-made scenarios created by the developers. In addition to online and single-player multiplayer, the game will feature local offline multiplayer, but limited to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber arena.
The Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi (Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! in Japan) 3D action fighting game first released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2.
The second game, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Neo in Japan), was released for the PS2 in Japan in October 2006, and in Europe, North America, and Australia in November 2006. The Nintendo Wii version of the game was released in North America in November 2006, in Japan in January 2007, and in Europe and Australia in March and April 2007, respectively.
The third installment of the game, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Meteor in Japan), was released for the PS2 and Wii in Japan in October 2007. The game was released for the PlayStation 2 in North America and Europe in November 2007. The Wii version of the game was released in North America in December 2007, and in Europe and Australia in February 2008.
The most recent game in the series, Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team, was released in August 2010 for the PlayStation Portable. This game is the only game in the Budokai Tenkaichi series to run on a handheld console.
