In a move that celebrates India’s cultural and linguistic diversity, Niantic, in collaboration with The Pokemon Company (TPC), announced the addition of Hindi language support to the world-famous game Game AR, Pokemon Go. This exciting development is part of the Hindi Divas celebrations, which is being held on September 14.

Furthermore, more than 800 Pokemon names have been localized into Hindi, making the game more appealing to the Indian audience. These translated names are accessible on the official Pokedex page and players will soon have the option to get Pokemon details in Hindi as well.
Reflecting their commitment to the Indian gaming community, Niantic has also improved Pokemon Go’s in-app coin pack pricing on the Google Play Store and App Store. Additional coin rewards exclusive to the Indian market have been launched on the Pokemon Go Online Store.
To mark the Hindi localization, Niantic organized a month-long exclusive event for Indian players. Enthusiasts have a chance to earn tons of rewards by participating in Field Research, Timed Research and Exclusive Bonuses.

In addition to the cultural ceremony, a touching short film titled “Journey of a Dream” was released. Focusing on the profound bond between father and son, the film encapsulates the essence of family relationships. The feature film is accessible on the official Pokemon Asia Youtube channel in four Indian languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Bengali.
Omar Tellez, Niantic’s Vice President of Emerging Markets, emphasized the company’s dedication to building a global economic community, commenting: “The addition of Hindi language support is a testament to our unwavering commitment to India and its rapidly expanding gaming audience.”Tellez also mentioned Niantic’s achievement in adding over 500,000 Pokestops in India India since 2016, along with organizing many on-ground events across Indian cities.
Echoing Tellez’s sentiments, Takato Utsunomiya, COO at TPC, expressed, “Localization into Hindi marks the beginning of a promising journey. We envision a deep presence in India and look forward to growing with the Pokemon fan community.”
This strategic move by Niantic and TPC not only resonates with the cultural nuances of India but also promises a richer gaming experience for a large Indian audience.
