The official website for Masayuki Kusumi and Jiro Taniguchi's live-action film Kodoku no Gourmet (Solitary Gourmet) began posting the film's new trailer on Thursday. The trailer reveals and previews the film's theme song “Kūfuku to Ore”(Hunger and Me) by The CRO-MAGNONS.

The film is based on the live-action series of the manga. The film's lead actor Yutaka Matsushige will once again star in the film, and also direct the film and co-write it with Yoshihiro Taguchi. The film will open on January 10. The film will also be screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival, which runs from October 28 to November 6.

The crew also announced Sorezore no Kodoku no Gourmet (To Each Their Solitary Gourmet), a show premiering on October 4. The ensemble series revolves around various main characters (in addition to Yutaka Matsushige's Gorō). , main character in all previous projects) on his own culinary journey.
Both the live-action Kodoku no Gourmet series and the original manga follow a lone vendor named Gorō Inagashira as he travels across Japan and samples local dishes found on street corners. The 10th season of this live-action series premieres in October 2022.
The franchise also has a six-episode live-action mini-series project titled Kodoku no Gourmet ~Oishii kedo Horo Nigai… Inagashira Gorō no Sainan ~ (Solitary Gourmet ~It's Tasty But a Bit Bitter… Gorō's Misfortune Inagashira~) premieres on streaming services Paravi and Hikari TV in March-April 2022.
Masayuki Kusumi and Jiro Taniguchi first published the Kodoku no Gourmet manga from 1994 to 1996 in Fusosha's Monthly Panja magazine (now defunct). Kusumi handled the story and Taniguchi drew the art. Fusosha published the first volume in 1997. Kusumi and Fusosha published the manga's second volume in September 2015. Taniguchi died in February 2017.
Fanfare and Ponent Mon will release the manga in English. The company has said the manga will “most likely” launch in spring 2021, but the series is currently listed as launching on December 17, 2024.
The manga also inspired an online anime that debuted on Production I.G's smartphone app “Tate Anime” (Vertical Anime) in November 2017.
