As part of the exciting announcements coming out of Anime Expo this year, Orange has shared an exclusive look at the previously announced Netflix series LEVIATHAN, their collaboration with Qubic Pictures. The announcement was made during Orange's Studio Launch.
This first look introduced the series' main characters, Alek (Prince Aleksander) and Sharp (Deryn Sharp), and gave panelists a sneak peek at an exclusive working-in-progress session, story previews, and concept art for LEVIATHAN. The film is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix in 2025.

LEVIATHAN is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Scott Westerfield and illustrated by Keith Thompson. The film is directed by Christophe Ferreira and Justin Leach serves as Executive Producer. Yoshihiro Watanabe and Katrina Minett serve as Series Producers. Music by Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi with original songs by Joe Hisaishi.
The original novel was published in 2009 as the first part of a trilogy with two sequels, Behemoth and Goliath, published in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
Orange describes the story:
In 1914, on the eve of war, a fugitive prince and a disguised girl meet on the biotechnological airship, HMS Leviathan, and change the course of history. Prince Aleksander, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, is on the run. Deryn Sharp is a civilian, disguised as a boy in the British Air Force. As World War I begins, Alek and Deryn's paths cross in the most unexpected way…setting them on a fantastical adventure around the world that will change both of their lives forever.
The series aims to combine elements of both history and fantasy to create a unique world filled with alternative technologies and interesting changes to our real reality.
