Kappei Yamaguchi, Usopp's voice actor in the anime One Pieceannounced on his official X account on May 30, 2024 that he was hospitalized and would have surgery.
In a series of lighthearted tweets, Yamaguchi explained that he had pushed himself too hard while lifting weights and would be hospitalized for a short time. He humorously noted that he would return to his role as a robot after the procedure.
The surgery scheduled for tomorrow will address a torn tendon in his shoulder, which the actor attributed to his strict weight training regimen.
Aware of the need for the procedure, he reassured fans that the injury is not too serious but requires medical intervention as it will not heal naturally.

Actually, starting today I will have to be hospitalized for a while! ^^ It was for shoulder surgery because I was lifting too much weight. I will return as a robot! Let's always be lively and full of energy today! ^^
Now I'm hospitalized! Tomorrow is the surgery and it looks like I'll have to fast for a day. Is it like Gari-zo fasting or something?
Oh no! Thank you everyone for your messages of support! ^^ I did too much weightlifting and ended up tearing my shoulder tendon, which couldn't heal naturally, so surgery was needed. It's not that serious, sorry for making you worry. From tomorrow onwards, I will become a robot with only my shoulders! ^^
