Spice and Wolf is based on the Dengeki Bunko light novel series written by Isuna Hasekura and illustrated by Juu Ayakurabegan in 2006 and has 24 episodes as of January 2023. A previous anime television series began airing in 2008 and had a second season in 2009.
Amazon describes the plot as follows:
The life of a traveling merchant is a lonely one, a fact with which Kraft Lawrence is all too familiar. Wandering from town to town with only his horse, cart, and whatever brought him, the peddler had settled into his routine pretty well—that is, until the night Lawrence found a female The wolf god is sleeping in his car. Taking the form of a seductive girl with wolf ears and a tail, Holo grew tired of harvesting in the countryside and made a deal with the merchant to lend him the cunning of “Holo the Wisewolf” to increase his profits in exchange. Take her along on your trip. What kind of businessman can refuse such an offer? However, Lawrence soon realizes that having an ancient goddess as his companion may be a mixed blessing. Will this wolf girl become too wild to be tamed?
