Netflix announced on Monday that it will stream an anime television series based on Nakaba Suzuki’s The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse (Mokushiroku no Yon-kishi) sequel manga. Netflix did not reveal a specific release date and only listed the anime as “coming soon”.
The anime premiered in Japan on the newly created anime programming channel on TBS and its 27 affiliates on October 8 at 4:30 p.m. (3:30 a.m. EDT). The anime will air for half a year without a break.
Maki Odaira (Pokémon Journeys: The Series) is directing the anime at Telecom Animation Film, and Shigeru Murakoshi (I’m Quitting Heroing, Zombie Land Saga) is supervising and writing the series’ scripts. Youichi Takada (lead animator for Lupine the Third: Part 5, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) is designing the characters, and Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto are composing the main theme. Yamamoto is also composing music. UNLIMITED PRODUCE is produced and planned by TMS.
Little Glee Monster performed the opening theme song “Up to Me!” while Moonchild performed the ending theme song “Friends Are For.”
Suzuki launched the manga in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in January 2021. Publisher Kodansha USA is releasing the manga simultaneously in English digitally and in print. The company describes the first episode:
Percival always lived with his grandfather on the Finger of God, a distant paradise located above the clouds. And although he loves the simple life, he secretly longs for adventure. But Percival’s life is changed forever when an intruder—someone with a surprising connection to him—tear away everything he has ever known.
With nothing left to do but chase after the man who took everything from him, Percival sets out on his own. During his journey, the sheltered boy discovers that there are many things he doesn’t know about normal life. Luckily, he meets friends along the way who can help him get through—but how will they react when they learn of Percival’s fate… and how it is connected to the apocalypse position?
