Episode 1074 of ONE PIECE was released today and features some crazy animations as Luffy continues to show off the wild abilities that come with his Gear 5. The episode begins with a new opening, which features the theme song “The Peak” by SEKAI NO OWARI. This video was directed by the incredible Megumi Ishitani and is visually stunning.
The first season of the episode focuses on the situation below the roof. Raizo and Jinbe managed to handle the flames, and none of the Straw Hats gave up (and Usopp was just on the run). We then see Momonosuke and Yamato, the young future shogun still doubting himself and thinking he can’t do what he needs to do to save everyone. Even though Yamato always encourages him, it seems like he can’t overcome his negative thoughts, and we then see a flashback where Toki sends him to the future with the servants by Oden.
ONE PIECE Episode 1074 – Momo
The character Momo always shows remarkable growth from a shy cat into a trustworthy general. Even though her body has aged before Shinobu’s abilities, it’s important to understand that Momo is still just an 8-year-old child and the burden he has to bear is enormous. Seeing the way he handled what needed to be done after Kin’emon’s speech was emotional and it was nice to finally see him on the verge of completely breaking free from negative thoughts and truly giving it his all. When he finally decides that he can do it, we move on to the main story, which of course is Luffy’s fight against Kaido.
As is the case with every major episode of this season, ONE PIECE delivered crazy animations for Luffy’s lightning moves. The fluid movements were beautiful to watch as Luffy demonstrated the many crazy abilities of Gear 5. Admittedly, it looked like the fight was over and Kaido didn’t have a chance anymore after the previous KO he had given to our main character. However, today he threw some moves that looked good, even though they didn’t seem to have much effect. However, there are still a lot of interesting frames, you can see some of them below:
ONE PIECE Episode 1074
An interesting point he makes is that haki is something that can stand above anything, especially mentioning that Gol D. Roger is not a devil fruit user. He also thought about Oden, another haki monster. After some more nice back and forth animations, Luffy decides it’s time to end it and encourages Momo to move Onigashima away from his giant fist. The line “I trust you” makes a strong impression, reminding us of the previous times Luffy gave Momo the trust needed to push him to become the man Wano needed.
Speaking of Wano, we also remember their strong mentality. There wasn’t a single one of them who fought there who wouldn’t die if it meant Kaido was defeated. This was shown when Hyogoro threw the question at them—would they prefer Luffy to win even if it meant they would all die. Combining this with the citizens of the Flower Capital sending their wishes to the sky makes for a happy ending to the war where the samurai can actually reunite with their families, which is more than expected. .
