Mobile SuitGundam: Seed Freedom has revealed new character artwork along with new cast details.
In 2002, Sunrise released the hit series Mobile Suit Gun Seed, which revolved around the brutal conflict between humanity and their genetically engineered counterparts. To celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary, Seed Freedom will pick up where the last installment, Seed Destiny, left off in 2005. As detailed on Crunchyroll, the official X (or Twitter) account for MSG: Seed Freedom recently opened highlights eight of the film’s main characters with new character artwork, which also includes the reveal of a new gundam pilot suit. The account also announced the voice actors who will voice these characters, with the exception of Griffin Arbalest. The film will begin its theatrical release in Japan on January 26, 2024.
Yukari Tamura (Twins Please!) will play the role of Aura Maha Khyber. Hiro Shimono (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba) and Yuichi Nakamura (Fruits Basket,Gundam Build Fighters) have been cast as Orphee Lam Tao and Shura Serpentine, respectively. Sumire Uesaka (Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro, Overlord) and Misato Fukuen (My Hero Academia) have been cast as Ingrid Tradoll and Redelard Tradoll. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, who portrayed the iconic role of Inosuke Hashibara in Demon Slayer, will play Daniel Harper in Seed Freedom. Kentaro Tone (The Girl I Like Forgot My Glasses) will play Liu Shenqiang.
Seed’s prequel, Seed Destiny, revolved around the ongoing conflict between humans, aka “Natural People,” and genetically engineered or “enhanced” humans known as Coordinators. Seed Freedom chronicles the ruler’s attempt to stem the tide of war by proposing the “Destiny Plan,” an initiative that forces each individual into an assigned role and is said to eliminate competition from society. However, humanity flatly rejected this initiative because it also eliminated the concept of freedom. So far, Bandai Namco Filmworks has revealed two teaser trailers for Seed Freedom.
Bandai is also rolling out other projects to celebrate Seed’s 20th anniversary. In addition to the upcoming Mobile Suit Gunma: Seed video game, there is also a spin-off manga titled Mobile Suit Gun: Seed Eclipse. Written by Atsushi Doga with illustrations by SOW, this manga chronicles the adventures of three different Gunda pilots who take on missions for a rescue organization called ODR (Oriental Disaster Relief Team). Orb ear). The series was launched in GTA Ace magazine in 2021. Currently, there is no set release date for Seed’s future installment of the video game, codenamed “Project Ignited”.
