MBC ANIME has announced additional investments in two currently airing original anime works: the battle royal series KamiErabi God.app and the esports-themed Protocol: Rain (also known as Our Rainy Protocol).
Programs broadcast from Fuji TV and TV Asahi in Japan will begin streaming exclusively on Shahid, the world’s leading Arabic streaming platform, this week. This platform is operated by MBC GROUP. Additionally, KamiErabi GOD.app was listed with the title Kami.App when released on Shahid.
The investment in these two anime series is part of MBC ANIME’s strategy to license, promote and produce anime for the Middle East and North Africa region. It is also currently part of the production committees of both Fuji TV and TV Asahi.
MBC ANIME is a strategic initiative established by MBC GROUP (a major media company based in the Middle East and North Africa) and Tokyopop, first announced on March 29, 2023. The venture was led by Tokyopop founder and CEO Stu Levy, who stepped back from his duties within the company earlier that month. He remained president of Tokyopop and transferred day-to-day operations of the company to Susanne Hellweg.
MBC Anime aims to commission, produce and invest in a series of anime titles as well as create relationships with anime studios in Japan. This joint venture is part of MBC Group’s plan to invest and expand further into the anime industry.
