The early premiere of the anime film adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's Look Back was held in Tokyo on June 1, 2024. During the event, director Kiyotaka Oshiyama surprised attendees by revealing the dedication and grueling schedule to complete the project.
Recounting his last-minute efforts, Oshiyama explained that he was still working on the film until the afternoon of the day before its premiere.
He also shared that he stayed at the studio for about two and a half months, often working late into the night. The film was so close to completion that he was only able to return home and sleep in his own bed for the first time in months the night before the event.
“It was extremely tiring, like doing a strenuous triathlon every day. What happened every day was so thrilling that even now, I still can't feel that it's over. I think I can finally feel it's over when people watch it today. I painted until yesterday afternoon and finished it last night. I stayed at the company for about two and a half months. Finally, last night I went home and slept in my bed. I think I've accumulated quite a bit of sleep debt.
Due to his busy work schedule, he didn't have time to prepare for the event and had to rush out to buy new clothes, because he didn't have anything appropriate to wear.
“I was drawing until yesterday afternoon. I had this event today but I didn't have any clothes to wear so I rushed out this afternoon to buy them. Everything I'm wearing is brand new.”
Some fans noted that this was not surprising since Oshiyama omitted most of the work including script and character designs for the film.

Refusing to be beaten by someone who barely went to school, Fujino devoted herself to learning manga creation. However, as time passed, her goal of surpassing Kyomoto seemed increasingly distant, and Fujino, now in sixth grade, eventually gave up and stopped making comics.
