NHK revealed the key visuals and April 1 premiere date for Tomoko Boryoku’s live-action series An Older Guy’s VR First Love (VR Ojisan no Hatsukoi) on Monday.

Toru Namaguchi stars in the film as real-life protagonist Naoki Endō. Anna Kurasawa plays Naoki, the online persona of Naoki Endō. Hiroe Igeta plays Honami. Teruyuki Yoshida, Tomohiro Kuwano, Shunsuke Nakamura and Shinichirō Ishikawa will direct the film. Mash Morino wrote the script for the series. Takashi Watanabe is composing music.
Kodansha USA publishes the manga in English and released the manga in November 2022. Kodansha USA describes the story:
Naoki is forty years old, single, male and a temporary worker. But in the VR world, he takes the form of a lovely young girl. There, he meets his first love—the cheerful and beautiful Honami.
For Naoki, real life is a failure. The VR world where he escaped is also about to end. But in those final moments, he found her…
Boryoku serialized the manga on Ichijinsha’s Zero-Sum Online website in 2020. Ichijinsha released the manga’s second compilation volume in February 2023.
