Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen manga series has certainly made a name for itself over the past few years. By killing off some of the series' main characters, Gege Akutami managed to pique the interest of readers, but it seems like the story is becoming too repetitive and fans are starting to feel a bit boring.
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga series is not only popular in the West, but also has no shortage of fans in Japan. Furthermore, Mappa's anime adaptation also raised the bar for the manga's success. Although Jujutsu Kaisen is very popular in the English-speaking world, it seems to be having a difficult time with Japanese fans.
In Japan, fans have begun complaining about the story getting into a repetitive cycle. If you don't know, Jujutsu Kaisen is currently at the end of the manga. The final villain to defeat is Ryumen Sukuna. However, he seems too strong to be taken down. The Jujutsu witches pursued him one after another but were eventually defeated. This makes the story too predictable.
A Japanese social media site, Yaraon, has gathered some criticism from Japanese readers on this issue. Turns out it all started with a single tweet from @enushi_saba, who mustered up the courage to write what most fans had been thinking from the start.

Twitter translation: Do you want me to tell you why Jujutsu Kaisen is boring? It's natural for Sukuna to be strong, so I'm not complaining about characters dying left and right. But then, the Jujutsu High side should also come up with a strategy to deal with the powerful Sukuna, right?
In fact, they had a month-long preparation period, they even “cheated” and so prepared “many insurance packages”. But when you open the lid and look inside, what do you see? It just goes on and on.
Judging from the tweet's 10.5 million views and 23,000 likes, this is certainly the opinion of many Japanese readers as well.
@enushi_saba continued in their tweet (Translation): Each and every one of them rushed in without thinking and were slaughtered left and right. Even the so-called strongest teacher (haha) was cut in half right before their eyes, yet they were still so careless.
Japanese fans on the Yaraon blog also joined the conversation and gave their opinions:
No one dares to express their opinions against Jujutsu Kaisen because the fandom is so sick. From the beginning, Sukuna was so unmotivated that she had no interest at all. It's quite rare to have a final boss fight where the final boss is so unmotivated. Well, I see. You want to see something like the Muzan battle, right? However, it might be a bit harsh to compare it to the climactic battle in Jump, but still. The same thing happened with the Cell arc in Dragon Ball. “They had a period of preparation and they fought one-on-one.” It's unbelievable that even on Twitter, where criticism is not allowed no matter how bad it is, now 90% are negative. about the current status of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Jujutsu Kaisen first appeared as a manga by Gege Akutami in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in March 2018. As of January 2024, the story has been collected into 25 manga volumes. Studio Mappa is responsible for the animation production of the series and has so far released 2 seasons and 1 movie. Part 3 titled “Culling Game Arc” is already in production.
