The April issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine revealed on Wednesday that the manga adaptation of Keiso’s Ishura light novel series will end its first season, corresponding to the first novel “The New Demon.” King War” on May 7. The manga will be on hiatus next month.
Yen Press is releasing the novels in English and describes the series:
In a world where the Demon King is dead, a series of demigods capable of taking him down have inherited the world: a master swordsman who can find a way to strike down opponents with just a look; a spearman so fast he can break the sound barrier; a wyvern rogue who fights with three legendary weapons at once; an omnipotent wizard who can turn thoughts into reality; and an angelic assassin that causes instant death. Eager to earn the title of “A True Hero,” each of these champions pursues challenges against formidable enemies and sparks their own conflicts. The battle to determine the strongest among the mighty begins.
Meguri launched the manga adaptation in Monthly Shonen Magazine in March 2021. Kodansha published the manga’s third compilation volume in December 2023.
The novel began serialization on both Shōsetsuka ni Narō and the Kakuyomu website in 2017. Kadokawa began publishing the series in print in September 2019. The novel ranked first in the tankōbon, novel, and novel categories. New novel and title of the 2021 edition of Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! (This Light Novel Is Amazing!) The guidebook has the most votes ever recorded for a light novel series in guidebook history.
The novels are inspiring a television anime series that premiered on January 3 and is still ongoing. The anime is streaming exclusively on Disney+ worldwide. The series is streaming on Hulu in North America.
