The anime’s official website Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction of Inio Asano revealed on August 31, 2023, that the previously announced adaptation would be an anime film, split into two parts.
Anime movie Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction Scheduled for release in spring 2024.
An illustration by character designer and animation director Nobutaka Ito has also been released to commemorate the announcement.
Tomoyuki Kurokawa will direct the films, with Reiko Yoshida in charge of the script. Nobutake Ito is serving as the character designer and animation director, and Mika Nishimura is the art director. Umebayashi Taro will compose the music.

Reiko Yoshida:
People, who cannot even grasp the future or even tomorrow, must continue to live in the present. Such moments of uncertainty and discomfort continued to occur. To endure such days, perhaps it takes someone, something to live with.
Perhaps the characters appearing in this work understand this unconsciously.
I hope you can spend some time with these girls living in the invisible present, even if only for a brief moment.
Nobuttake Ito:
As for the characters, we’ve received input from Mr. Asano to correct the differences in interpretation as well as suggestions for new elements. This has resulted in new designs while preserving the atmosphere of the original work. I hope you will also pay attention to these aspects.
Mika Nishimura:
As someone who especially loves the context of Mr. Asano’s works, I was really hesitant to take on this project. However, I wanted to see a work that didn’t affect the original world and still kept a fan’s point of view in mind.
We are in production with the best team who love the original work. I will be happy if you can also enjoy the background of the main story.
Taro Umebayashi:
Participating in a production that is loved by so many fans is truly a humbling experience. I am determined to contribute to this project in a way that is consistent with the feelings that Mr. Asano has poured into the work.
As previously revealed, Production +h. will produce animated films. This will be the first anime adaptation of Inio Asano’s work.
Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Inio Asano. It was serialized in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Big Comic Spirits from April 2014 to February 2022, with the chapters collected into 12 tankōbon volumes. In North America, Viz Media has licensed the manga for release in English.
By March 2022, Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction had over 3 million copies in circulation. In 2021, the manga won the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category, as well as the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival Excellence Award in 2022.
