Everyone is very surprised, but the episode mainly focuses on a young teacher who is very open about how to gender his female students is not my favorite episode so far. in the season! Seriously, when the episode opens, I know what jokes it’ll mostly be based on. While there are some fun moments here in the middle that I’ll cover later, I got almost exactly what I expected. I never really understood the character of Yasuda that much because he was always there, and the first season mostly just repeated the same jokes with him. That certainly matters, but he doesn’t let me down on the show that much because he’s never been so focused. Here, as you put his creepyness first and center, you realize that Horimiya really only had two jokes with him. At first, like I said, Yasuda just likes to stick around with girls and is almost proud of it. The other joke is that none of the other characters seem to really take him seriously or show any real signs of respect for him. I guess it’s nice to have a teacher that students can see firsthand, but that seems to be mostly done to mock or bring down him for his very intimidating behavior. It thins out quickly, and I wonder why this guy still has a job.
The only good thing about this episode is in the middle, where we get a glimpse of Tooru and Yuki’s relationship. The whole scene about the sewing needle and Tooru’s obvious jealousy for wanting Yuki to take care of him is cute, especially since the reason Yuki brought along the sewing kit in the first place is because Tooru keeps losing buttons. I would have liked if there were more follow-up scenes because technically neither of the characters learned anything from the situation. I’m still not even sure what their relationship will be like at this point in the series. I want them to grow because I consider them a secondary couple to the show, but these two barely focus on solo activities let alone focus on pairing roles. This seems like too much of a wasted opportunity and I hope the show fixes it soon!
