Since around the 2010s, some streamers have built huge fan bases and careers without ever showing their faces. Now, this success has led three virtual YouTubers (VTubers) at hololive to perform at Dodgers Stadium for the July 5 baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks.

The hololive company's English X (formerly Twitter) account announced on May 31 that three of the members will appear at Dodgers Stadium on July 5 for “holo night”:

The site goals went into more detail. Three VTubers will appear in the game: Hoshimachi Suisei, Usada Pekora and Gawr Gura. The three will participate in a ballgame announcement, a “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” performance, a hype video, a holographic nighttime drone show and a photo spot with life-size cutouts. There will also be official hololive and Dodgers collaborative t-shirts and baseball caps for sale. However, the design has not been announced yet. And for die-hard fans, those who purchase tickets to the three-way show will receive a baseball trading card pack featuring Hoshimachi, Usada and Gura in Los Angeles Dodgers uniforms.

What's especially interesting about the appearance of three VTubers in the Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks is that it takes place on two anniversaries. First up, for baseball fans, is Shōhei Ohtani's 30th birthday. Monday is the opening day of the Anime Expo convention. So the city of Los Angeles will be filled with anime and anime-related attractions on July 5.
This looks like a fun little collaboration between hololive and the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. It's also fitting that the Dodgers are increasingly collaborating with Japanese pop culture and organizations, such as YOSHIKI's appearance performing the “Star Spangled Banner” during the game on May 21. 4 between the Dodgers and New York Mets.
