Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app announced on Tuesday that Hajime Bako’s Killer Vamp (Chi to Hai no Joō) manga will be on hiatus in preparation for the manga’s final arc. The manga will return on February 20.
Bako launched the manga on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday manga website and on the Manga ONE app in December 2016. Shogakukan published the manga’s first compilation volume on May 2017 and the 20th volume on December 12.
Comikey publishes the manga digitally and describes the story:
“Don’t worry… You’re not dead yet.”
Since the eruption of Mount Fuji, Night in Japan and this city have changed completely. Those covered in volcanic ash from Mount Fuji became fighting vampires, wielding terrible power as they began killing each other and bathing in the blood of their fallen enemies.
Bako prevented the manga battle from being canceled in 2017 when he asked fans to buy the first volume of the manga. His editor told him that if the first volume did not sell at least 1,000 more copies within a month before the release of the third volume, the series would be canceled at the fourth volume. After nearly a week after Bako’s plea, the first volume of the manga sold about 1,000 copies, thus saving the series from cancellation.
The manga ranked 7th in the Web Manga category of the fourth “Next Manga Awards” (Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō) in 2018.
