Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is going all out on its anime adaptation, announcing two courses in a row.
“It has been decided that Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will be cast for two consecutive seasons until March 2024 next year!” Frieren’s official web statement said. “The first two-hour special will start airing on Friday, September 29 and every Friday from next week, October 6. Enjoy the TV show ‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’ in half a year.” The series will be available on Crunchyroll, with the first episode airing at 8:00 a.m. PT.
With not only a two-hour special but the promise of back-to-back seasons through March 2024, Frieren fans are in for possibly 30 episodes worth of content. Acclaimed director and scriptwriter Megumi Ishitani adapted One Piece Episode 1015 to critical acclaim, as well as One Piece’s 25th theme song. Regarding this news, she expressed her shock through an X (formerly Twitter) post. “The first episode of Frieren is a series and on top of that it will last two consecutive episodes, which is so amazing…” she said.
Studio Madhouse is at the helm of the adaptation, having delivered stunning animation on One Punch Man and Hunter x Hunter 2011 as well as environments like Redline, which fans will again look forward to. The two-hour special will have its own original ending song, “Bliss,” written by Evan Call, before transitioning to “anywhere.” Both will be made by Milet. YOASOBI, who recently performed Oshi no Ko’s “Idol,” will sing Frieren’s opening theme song.
