Ube City in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Hideaki Anno’s hometown, recently unveiled a 7.3 meter long replica of the “Longinus Spear” symbol from the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion his. This exhibit is part of the city’s ongoing initiative, “Machiju Evangelion,” which means “Evangelize Everywhere in Town.”
A replica of the spear is on display at Tokiwa Park. It was made by Ube Steel Co., a local ironworking company, in dark gray rather than the iconic red.
However, although the spear’s original color is not available during the day, there is still a surprise in store for fans who visit in the evening, as the giant spear will be bathed in vivid red light .
In addition, the “Machiju Evangelion” initiative also features other attractions such as shops and various exhibitions at Yamaguchi Ube Airport, a gourmet fair with version Evangelion character coasters limited and themed dishes etc
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a Japanese mecha anime television series produced by Gainax, animated by Tatsunoko, and directed by Hideaki Anno. It aired on TV Tokyo from October 1995 to March 1996.
In 1997, Hideaki Anno and Gainax released the film The End of Evangelion, which served as an alternate ending to the final two episodes. A series of four films, titled Rebuild of Evangelion, retelling the events of the series with different plot elements and a new ending, was released between 2007 and 2021.
