Dragon Ball Z has released a Saibamen tissue box perfect for shedding tears over Yamcha’s (first) death in the series.
“Dragon Ball Z: Conclusion, Saibamen! Pocket tissue box!” was announced on the official Dragon Ball website and is available for pre-order at Hobby-Genki. The product description reads: “The Saibaimen surprised us all with the acid attacks they performed from scratch, and now you can enjoy recreating that technique in an organic version. It’s more beneficial – and safer – to use paper towels!”
The Saibamen tissue box has velcro-adhesive arms designed to wrap around whatever the user desires — a hilarious twist on Yamcha’s unfortunate death by one of the Saibamen’s self-detonation. It’s priced on Hobby-Genki at 7,090 yen, about $45. Pre-orders are open until February 15, 2024 and will begin shipping on March 31, 2024.
In the intergalactic realm of Dragon Ball Z, Saibamen emerge as genetically engineered warriors raised by Saiyan warriors to wreak havoc on Earth. These diminutive, green-skinned creatures, resembling a combination of humanoid and plant-like features, burst out of the ground, fully grown and ready to fight. Despite his small stature, Saibamen throw punches with impressive power, agility, and a notorious self-destructive move known as the “Saibamen Bomb.”
The Saibamen bomb is how Yamcha, formerly known as the Desert Bandit, met his first death in the Dragon Ball Z series. In Episode 17, “The Saibamen Attack” (covering Chapter 21 of the Dragon Ball Z manga), The Z Fighters, including Krillin, Piccolo and Gohan, confront the Saibamen. Yamcha appears and, overconfident after seemingly defeating Saibaman, challenges all of the others to a single combat. Tragically, the previously beaten Saibaman reappears, catching Yamcha off guard. It latched onto Yamcha and self-destructed, taking both of their lives. Yamcha was later brought back to life by the Namekian Dragon Balls, but this is considered one of his most embarrassing failures by many anime fans.
The Saibamen tissue dispenser may not be suitable for specific Yamcha fans, but it’s certainly a fun way for viewers to blow their noses and wipe away tears before any particularly emotional Dragon Ball Z scenes.
All 291 episodes of Dragon Ball Z can be watched on Prime Video or Amazon’s Crunchyroll. “Dragon Ball Z: Conclusion, Saibamen! Pocket tissue box!” can be pre-ordered via Hobby-Genki.
