The anime will be separate from The Continental and the second untitled television series
Image via Eiga NatalieIn Preview For an upcoming episode of The Discourse podcast, website The Playlist reported on Thursday that director Chad Stahelski has revealed the project “a Japanese anime” in the John Wick franchise. According to The Playlist, the podcast mentioned the recent prequel television series to The Continental series, when Stahelski said there is a second television series as well as an anime.
The Playlist quotes Stahelski as saying, “So we’re really looking forward to that [phim truyền hình thứ hai]; we’re really excited about that because we’re doing that and a Japanese anime because I love Japanese animation so much. So to create all the interesting stories that anime can achieve better than we can and TV shows to expand our world, we’re still going to get the fix, you get the idea. me? And we will still have fun.”
Stahelski directed all four John Wick films from 2014 until this year. He’s also producing next year’s Ballerina spinoff, although he’s not involved in The Continental. He is designing action scenes for Lazarus, Shinichiro Watanabe and MAPPA’s sci-fi action anime for Adult Swim. Before directing films, Stahelski worked as a stuntman on the live-action film Fist of the North Star and supervising stunt coordinator on the live-action film Speed Racer.
Variety reported in 2020 that Derek Kolstad, writer of the first three John Wick films, was writing and producing “animated series” Splinter Cell for Netflix and Ubisoft. Deadline reports that he is also developing a live-action film based on Kouta Hirano’s Hellsing manga with Amazon Studios, and he has written the script for a live-action film about Sega’s Streets of Rage game. John Wick star Keanu Reeves wrote the BRZRKR comic book series, which Production IG is adapting into an animated series for Netflix.
