The July issue of Shueisha Creative's YOU magazine announced on May 23 that manga author Tobira Oda will launch his new series Sorowanai Kazoku (Misaligned Family) in the magazine's August issue on June 21. . Shueisha Creative describes the manga as a “gradual laughter family film.”

Oda launched the Chotto Fushigi na Kono Uchū (This Slightly Strange Universe) manga on Futabasha's Web Action manga website in August 2021. The series ended in January 2023.
Oda launched Shimeppoi Hanashi desu ga… (This is a Melancholy Story, But…) in Shogakukan's Big Comic Original Zōkan magazine in October 2020. Shogakukan published the compiled booklet in April 2023.
Oda launched the Danchi Tomoo manga in Big Comic Spirits in 2003, and ended it in February 2019. Shogakukan published the manga's 33rd and final volume in March 2019.
The manga was nominated for the prestigious Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award in 2005, 2006, and 2007.
The manga inspired the television anime adaptation which aired for 78 episodes from April 2013 to February 2015.
