Che Lingo is a lifelong anime fan and is no stranger to working in the industry. The South London-born rapper said in 2021 that he wanted to produce the soundtrack for Dr. Stone or JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure in a post via X (formerly Twitter). Che Lingo also worked with composer Hiroaki Tsutsumi on the song “Be Prepared” from Jujutsu Kaisen Original Soundtrack. He mentions his love of anime a lot in his music, as seen in “Jaded” from his latest album, Coming Up For Air:
“Growing up playing soccer and watching anime with friends. There will be a flight to Japan soon so the man can pay me in yen.”
Co shu Nie’s music continues to appear in some of anime’s biggest, having worked on The Promised Neverland, Psycho-Pass and Tokyo Ghoul:re. The band also released a music video in collaboration with Jujutsu Kaisen for their hit song “give it back,” which won Reddit’s r/anime Award for Best Ending Song of 2021 for the category General public.
Che Lingo go details his love for anime, inspiration for music, aspirations for the future and more in an extended interview with Crunchyroll. Images for the Che Lingo x Crunchyroll soundtrack are below:
