In a world ravaged by menacing creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino longs to join the Japanese Self-Defense Forces to defeat them. “Let's destroy the Kaiju together.”
Kafka was committed to his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Over time, life circumstances forced them to go their separate ways and caused him to give up his lifelong ambition. He is employed by Monster Sweeper, Inc., a professional cleaning company that specializes in cleaning up the aftermath of Kaiju battles. Meanwhile, Mina Ashiro is currently the Captain of the Self-Defense Forces' 3rd Division. As things stand, he is currently unworthy to fight the Kaiju alongside her.
At work, Kafka comes across the highly motivated Reno Ichikawa. Reno's undying determination to join the Self-Defense Forces leaves no room for failure. His perseverance ignites Kafka's ambition to stand alongside Mina as they work together to protect humanity from the Kaiju.
A dream frozen in time, thawed by a burning promise But Kafka doesn't know that an impending Kaiju threat is suddenly approaching him.
