Aniplex Online Fest 2024: Full Recap and Highlights

Aniplex Online Fest 2024 has officially come to an end, and it left behind quite a few interesting announcements. For the first time, the event took place on a Monday, and it took into account the time difference between the West Coast of the US and Japan: the event started at 8pm PDT and 8am JST, respectively. While that may not be the best for European fans, it certainly shows Aniplex's commitment to having a presence overseas.

This year's event, the fifth in a row, is once again hosted by Nippon Broadcasting System's Hisanori Yoshida and voice actress Sally Amaki, credited for her role as 22/7. Some games, like Fureru, have recently had their latest updates revealed and only have informational sections, so we'll focus on the ones that have already had actual announcements. The Aniplex Online Fest 2024 livestream will be available on YouTube until September 23, so be sure to check it out and catch some great performances (from DJ Kazu and New York band Demon Slayer) and skits.

Aniplex Online Fest 2024 – Overview:

Solo Leveling kicked off the anime lineup for AOF this year. The anime announced the theatrical release of the final episode of the first season and the first two episodes of the second season on November 29 (Japan) and revealed a trailer for the film titled ReAwakening. Season 2 of the Solo Leveling anime will premiere this January.

In addition to the movie and season two premiere date, Solo Leveling also revealed a key visual:

Fureru

Director Tatsuyuki Nagai, screenwriter Mari Okada, and character designer/animation director Masayoshi Tanaka talked about the upcoming Fureru film, which opens in Japan on October 4. The trio previously worked on the “heart-fluttering trilogy”: Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, The Anthem of the Heart, and Her Blue Sky. They shared a bit about the process of making these games.

Senpai is an Otokonoko

The currently in-progress adaptation has revealed an anime version of the opening music video for the theme song “Be a Good Egoist” by Whaledontsleep,

WIND BREAKER didn't have any updates for its second season, but fans were treated to two new music videos for Akihiko Nirei's “Navigator” (Shoya Chiba) and Hayato Suo's “Mind's Eye” (Nobunaga Shimazaki).

Sword Art Online spin-off Gun Gale Online has revealed a trailer and key visual for its upcoming sequel. A-1 Pictures is animating the new season.

The Hundred Line-Last Defense Academy-

The Hundred Line-Last Defense Academy-is set to be released internationally next year, after a spring release in Japan. The game will be produced by Too Kyo Games, founded by Danganronpa creator and scriptwriter Kazutaka Kodaka, along with other former Spike Churnsoft employees. Megumi Ogata, who voices one of the characters in the game, recorded a video to introduce it to potential fans due to her connection to the game's creators – Kodaka and Kotaro Uchikoshi. Ogata said she thought the duo had worked together before, but later learned that this was the first time for both of them. She voiced the script in Danganronpa, and she said that when she received the script, she stayed up all night reading it because it was so different. Ogata said that Hundred Line had a similar feeling. She couldn't talk about her character, but we know it's not the main character and besides her, there are many other famous voice actors who participated in the project.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia has seen a short trailer for the film. the Walpurgisnacht Rising, along with a new trailer for Ashley Taylor, who will appear in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra game. Walpurgisnacht Rising opens in 2025:

UniteUp!-Uni:Birth-

UniteUp!-Uni:Birth-, the second season of the television anime, has revealed a teaser trailer and key visual. The anime will premiere in January 2025. The opening theme song is “Uni:Birth” by UniteUp!:

Rie Takahashi and Kentaro Kumagai have pre-recorded greetings for fans who will be watching the anime I May Be a Guild Receptionist, but I'll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time this January and introduced three new cast members:

The anime I'm Marrying a Girl I Hate in My Class has revealed a trailer along with a January 2025 release date. Studio Gokumi and AXsiZ are animating the adaptation. Akane Sakuramori (voiced by Hinaki Yano) will perform the ending theme song.

Ayane Sakura and Kensho Ono are leading the cast of the anime Ameku MD: Doctor Detective, which revealed its first trailer and visual along with a cute cast introduction at this year's Aniplex Online Festival.

mono anime has revealed a character trailer for Satsuki Amamiya, who will be voiced by Haruna Mikawa. The anime will premiere next year.

Fate/strange Fake TV anime will have its world premiere this November in Los Angeles. Studio A-1 Pictures is animating. Character visuals have been revealed:

Mikadono Sanshimai wa Angai, Choroi. anime has revealed a teaser visual. PA Works is animating the series, which will premiere next year.

TO BE HERO X

Bilibili and Aniplex's TO BE HERO X has revealed its main cast, with a 2025 premiere date. The Japanese cast includes:

Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Disturbance will premiere on October 3, as confirmed by a new trailer and visual. Tatsuya Kitani will perform the opening theme song “Chained.”

Can I ask one last thing?

Can I ask one last thing? The light novel is being adapted into an anime by studio LIDEN FILMS. The anime will premiere in 2025 and will air on Crunchyroll.

CloverWorks is animating one of the most anticipated adaptations: The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity. The anime will premiere in 2025:

Studio Bind's Ruri no Houseki (Ruri Rocks) anime will premiere next year, as announced with a teaser trailer during Aniplex Online Festival 2024. The anime also revealed a teaser visual.

Fans of K-pop boy band ENYPHEN are in for a treat as Dark Moon: The Blood Altar will feature a story entirely based on the band and its music video. Webtoon is collaborating on the project. Check out the announcement:

Virgin Punk

Studio SHAFT and Yasuomi Umetsu are working on a new original project: a series titled Virgin Punk. The first installment in the series, Clockwork Girl, will debut in early summer 2025. The teaser image and trailer have been revealed.
