The official website for the upcoming anime adaptation Dungeon Meshi (Delicious in Dungeon) by Ryoko Kui revealed the first trailer on October 4, 2023, previewing the film’s opening theme song.

The official website also revealed that the anime Dungeon Meshi will begin broadcasting in January 2024 and will last for two consecutive seasons until June 2024.

Yoshihiro Miyajima will play the role and direct it at studio TRIGGER, with Kimiko Ueno in charge of the series script. Naoki Takeda will be in charge of character designs and Yasunori Mitsuda will compose the music.
Dungeon Meshi (Delicious In Dungeon) is a manga series written and illustrated by Ryoko Kui. The series is published in Kadokawa’s Haruta magazine. It began serialization in February 2014, with chapters collected into 12 tankobon volumes.
It was nominated for the Manga Taisho award twice, in 2016 and 2019, and won the 2016 Kono Manga ga Sugoi list.
Yen Press has licensed the series in North America. They describe the manga’s plot as follows:
When young adventurer Laios and his companions are attacked and severely beaten by a dragon deep in a dungeon, the party loses all their money and provisions…and one member! They’re eager to go back and save her, but there’s just one problem: If they set out without food or coins to speak of, they’ll surely starve to death on the way! But Laios comes up with a great idea: “Let’s eat the monsters!” Slimes, basilisks, and even dragons…no one is safe from the appetites of these dungeon-crawling gourmands!
