Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian is based on the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko light novel series written by Sunsunsun with Momoko as the illustrator. The book began publication in 2021 and has eight volumes (including a short story collection) as of September 2023.
Yen Press describes the light novels as follows:
Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou is a student at Seiren Private Academy “the lone princess.” She was a half-Russian beauty with silver hair, top of her class, the student council accountant, and…completely unapproachable. For some reason, she was also responsible for reprimanding the lazy boy sitting next to her in class. Masachika Kuze often frustrates her by oversleeping, forgetting textbooks, and just being an exemplary student. Or at least, that’s how it looks from the outside. She may act tough but she doesn’t mind Masachika as much as others think. She even let him call her by her nickname Alya. Anyone who heard the comments she muttered in Russian could tell how she really felt, but since no one in the class understood the language, she was free to say whatever she wanted. what I like! Except…there was one person who knew what she was talking about. Masachika eavesdrops on her embarrassing revelations, feigning ignorance, all the while wondering what her flirtations really mean!
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian was originally a short story published in Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2020. A manga adaptation published by Kodansha by Saho Tenamachi starting in October 2022.
