Adult Swim has revealed a new clip from the upcoming series Rick and Morty: The Anime.
According to Anime News Network, Telecom Animation Film’s upcoming adaptation of Justin Roiland’s iconic series will put a new spin on memorable themes and events from the original anime series. Adult Swim recently released a short trailer on its official YouTube channel. In this clip, Rick suddenly finds himself surrounded by hundreds of different versions of himself while flying through space. Adult Swim has not yet revealed an exact release date but the series is expected to premiere sometime in 2024.

This is the second time Adult Swim has previewed the official trailer for Rick and Morty: The Anime. In July 2024, the network introduced the series opener along with the main theme song, “Love Is Entropy”. The dynamic animated sequence provides a chaotic, energetic feel that feels right at home in the Rick and Morty universe. The video includes a short message from Takashi Sano, who is directing the anime at Telecom Animation. Sano explains: “…What I tried to accomplish in these 10 episodes was to take all my favorite parts of Rick and Morty, compress them down to extract their essence, and add a unique twist. unique to Japan”.
Telecom Animation is perhaps best known for its iconic animated series Lupine III, adapted from Monkey Punch’s 1967 manga of the same name. In addition to working on several installments of the Lupine III series, Sano also directed and wrote the script for the popular fantasy anime series Tower of God. Yu Kiyozono, who served as animation director for Tower of God, was also an animation producer for Rick and Morty the Anime. Telecom Animation has not yet revealed the film’s cast.

Although Season 7 of the original Rick and Morty television series recently ended, Adult Swim green-lighted Season 8 for production earlier this year. According to Beth (and Space Beth) voice actress Sarah Chalke, the writers already have the finished script – the only step left is to schedule a taping. “It’s already been written, but we haven’t read them yet,” Chalke explained. “You know, we get the script as we go and it’s fun to see what you’re doing … whatever Beth or Space Beth is doing, I’m here for it.” Adult Swim has not yet announced a release date for Season 8.
