Netflix's live-action One Piece series is based on Eiichiro Oda's popular manga series, and follows the adventures of a young pirate, Monkey D. Luffy, and his crew as they seek to become the Pirate King and obtain the legendary treasure.
One Piece live-action season 2 will continue Luffy's journey as he ventures into the Grand Line in search of the treasure that many desire. Oda will once again oversee the production as Executive Producer.
The first look at Drum Island was revealed as part of Netflix's Geeked Week event. This is where the Straw Hats first met Chopper. Chopper is a reindeer with the power of the Zoan-type Devil Fruit Hito Hito no Mi and is the doctor of the Straw Hat crew.
After the image of Chopper's hometown was released, the online community erupted in controversy over the appearance of the island. While some thought it was amazing, others were not satisfied with the CGI.
“It looks great. I'm so excited.”one fan wrote.
Another One Piece fan complained: “If it was an anime setting, it would be fine, but this is a live action scene, relying too much on CGI is too much.”
In August, Oda shared a major update on the second season of the live-action One Piece film, revealing that it will include sections on Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island.
So season 2 will not include the Arabasta arc, which means the film will adapt fewer chapters than expected.
On the plus side, however, the pace of the film won't be too fast. Arabasta is the second saga of the story. The first part covers all of the East Blue arcs, except for Loguetown.
