What happened in Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode #4?
Episode #4 sees Tokyo Blade's script being revised together by Abiko and Goa.
Oshi no Ko Part 2 Episode #4 begins with Abiko, the author of Tokyo Blade, going to see a play held at a theater. Like Aqua, she is also fascinated by the experience. Seeing her in the crowd, Raida invites Abiko to chat after the play, asking her how she liked the play and revealing that the play was written by Goa.
Raida then comes clean to Abiko and explains that they may have to continue with an unsatisfactory script due to time constraints if Abiko continues to insist on rewriting the script herself. He explains that the actors need time to rehearse and this means that they may not have time to revise the script she gives them. Abiko then agrees to work with Goa again on the condition that they rewrite the script at the same time. Raida therefore sets up a video conference and a shared document, allowing Abiko and Goa to discuss the script face-to-face and revise in real time.
While the restructuring went well, the final script proved extremely challenging for the actors, with much of the exposition cut out in favor of emotional acting. Unsurprisingly, doubts began to arise as to whether Melt and Aqua would be up to the challenge. Aqua, in particular, struggled to express his emotions more freely in his acting due to his usual tendency to be emotionally closed off.
So he asks Kana for advice, who suggests he think about his happiest memories. However, Aqua is immediately haunted by the ghost of his former self, who reminds him that he has no right to be happy. Thoughts of Ai's death flood back, making Aqua feel nauseous. Not wanting Ruby to know, Aqua asks Akane to call Gotanda instead and goes to the director's house instead.
Gotanda reveals to Akane that Aqua experienced a traumatic event as a child, and after hearing Aqua mumble Ai's name in her sleep, Akane begins to piece together the truth. However, unwilling to believe this tragic truth, Akane simply hugs Aqua when he finally wakes up.
Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode #5 Rehearsals for the Play Continue
Episode #5 will reveal whether the cast can overcome the challenge or not.
While the issues surrounding the script were eventually resolved, the cast of Tokyo Blade, especially Aqua, faced quite a challenge as they attempted to bring Abiko and Goa's vision to life. Episode #5 will likely see Aqua's growth as an actor as he attempts to master emotional acting to properly portray his character, Touki.
As things stand, Kana and Himekawa will be stealing the spotlight from the rest of the cast with their overwhelming talent. However, the upcoming episode will likely see Akane declare her intention to compete with Kana for that spotlight, and whether Aqua can adapt to her new role will be crucial in determining the winner.
It will be interesting to see if Akane can dig deeper into Aqua's past and his suspicious connection to Ai. Akane is still unaware of Aqua's true intentions behind working at Lalalai although he may open up more to Akane in the upcoming episodes of The Owl.
