The popular animated series Castlevania returns for a second season on Netflix, with a trailer for Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 revealed during Netflix's annual Geeked Week 2024 celebration.
Set to Launched in January 2025Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 changes the status quo significantly with the arrival of Dracula's son Alucard at the Belmont party. The sequel to the 2017 Netflix series follows young vampire hunter Richter Belmont and his adopted sister Maria Renard as they attempt to stop the rise of the vampire Messiah during the French Revolution. Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve, My Lady Jane) voices Richter, while Pixie Davies (Mary Poppins Returns) plays his sister Maria.
Castevania: Nocturne teases breathtaking action in Season 2 announcement trailer
Like the previous animated series, Castlevania: Nocturne is based on Konami's classic side-scrolling action and exploration games. The character Richter Belmont is based on his introduction in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, the former being a Japan-exclusive game released on October 29, 1993. Prior to that, the game's direct sequel, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, is better known for its influential changes to the video game series and its worldwide release in 1997. However, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood is now available worldwide through re-releases on various gaming platforms. Castlevania: Dracula X, a remake of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood on the Super Nintendo, is now available in the Castlevania Advance Collection, which was released on September 23, 2021.
The return of Castlevania: Nocturne continues Netflix's strong animated lineup for 2024 and beyond. The streaming platform recently premiered Terminator Zero, a new animated series based on James Cameron's Terminator franchise. It received rave reviews for taking the series back to its horror roots and exploring new and exciting storylines originally pitched for the previous films. A Tomb Raider animated TV series will debut on Netflix on October 10, 2024. It takes place in the same continuity as the 2013 video game reboot series. Hayley Atwell, who plays Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will play Lara Croft in the Netflix animated series.
Netflix Has More Exciting Things to Reveal During Geeked Week 2024
Netflix Geeked Week 2024 runs from September 16 to 19. In addition to the Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 announcement, the four-day Netflix event will include more big news for the streaming service’s most popular franchises, such as the anticipated return of the One Piece live-action series. Netflix previously announced that One Piece Season 2 will adapt fan-favorite storylines like “Loguetown” and “Little Garden,” starring Katey Sagal as Dr. Kureha and Charithra Chandra as Miss Fourth. Fans of the series can also look forward to Netflix and WIT Studio’s One Piece TV anime remake, which is the animation studio behind Attack on Titan Seasons 1-3.
Season 1 of Castlevania: Nocturne is now available to stream on Netflix. All four seasons of the original Castlevania animated series are also available on Netflix.
