Crunchyroll Announces Simulcast Release Date for SAO's Gun Gale Online Season 2
The anime streaming service Crunchyroll will stream the series on October 4, 2024, with the show available to viewers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the CIS. The series will air simultaneously with the Japanese broadcast, with episodes airing on the same day as episodes airing on the Tokyo MX terrestrial television station. The broadcaster celebrated the launch of the new Gun Gale Online, gathering the new voice cast and giving them toy weapons. Tomori Kusonoki, the voice actor of LLENN, gave a speech on behalf of the cast, saying, “The anime is coming back after six years! We worked hard on the dub, so we hope you will look forward to it. We hope you will enjoy GGO!”
Crunchyroll officially describes the anime: “In the world of guns and steel of Gun Gale Online, LLENN is a dedicated female solo gamer. She is obsessed with two things: wearing all pink and honing her skills through consistent gameplay. She soon discovers her love for hunting down other players (aka PK), who will soon be known as the ‘Pink Devil’. Meanwhile, LLENN meets a beautiful yet mysterious player, Pitohui, and the two instantly hit it off. Following Pitohui’s advice, she joins the Squad Jam team battle.”
Sword Art Online became a global phenomenon in the early 2010s, spearheading the isekai trend and spawning a series of cross-genre products. After the show's second season, Kirito and his friends abandoned their sword and sorcery MMO and instead logged into the dystopian cyberpunk world of Gun Gale Online, allowing for a fresh take on the isekai world-building.
