Netflix released a new English-subtitled trailer for CAPCOM’s Onimusha game anime on Thursday. The trailer highlights late actor Toshirō Mifune (Rashomon, Seven Samurai) as the character model for Musashi Miyamoto.

Previously announced cast includes:
Shinya SUGAi (Walking Meat, Dragon’s Dogma) directs the anime at Sublimation. Hideyuki Kurata (Read or Die original novel, Made in Abyss, Goblin Slayer), Koji Endo (live-action Blade of the Immortal, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable) composed the music. Shochiku is noted as the custodian of history. Keiji Tsuji (13 Assassins, live-action Blade of the Immortal) served as stunt coordinator. Kim Jung Gi was assigned to design the characters, except for the character Miyamoto Musashi, which was assigned to Manilyn Toledana.
Acclaimed director Takashi Miike (live-action Ichi the Killer, Blade of the Immortal, Crows Zero, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Terraformars) serves as supervising director.
Måneskin performed the theme song of the anime “The Loneliest”.
CAPCOM launched the Sengoku period survival action game series Onimusha in 2001. The games in the series retell stories from the Sengoku period but with supernatural elements. The latest game in the series, a remaster of Onimusha: Warlords, released in January 2019.
The game series was previously inspired by the 2006 CG film Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. The film compiles CG animated footage from CAPCOM’s Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams PlayStation 2 video game and also adds additional additional animated scenes.
