Daima continues to have fun as Goku and friends pick up their newest companion on their journey through the Demon Realm. That new companion is Panzy, a seemingly strong but underpowered demon girl, which would make her feel quite out of place in most other versions of modern Dragon Ball. However, it seems like she would be a good addition here. While her introduction wasn't the most interesting thing we got from the show, it was still interesting enough to make for another solid episode.
After being rescued by Goku, Panzy decides to go with the boys while they continue to make their way to the Third Demon King's Castle. Being the grumpy person that he is, Glorio is none too pleased at the prospect of her dragging them down, and considering that her Majin abilities are barely strong enough to move a boulder, he may not be able to stay out of the base entirely. there. While Panzy probably won't make the roster for the next Dragon Ball fighting game (even though she absolutely should), having someone as non-technical as them join the team will make you feels refreshing after how long power levels have defined everything, and she reminds me a lot of Bulma's role in early Dragon Ball. Like Bulma, she specializes in tinkering with machines and claims those skills will make her a valuable asset. Given the overlap in their roles, I worry that she might feel redundant when Bulma joins the team. However, she seems significantly less vain, so hopefully the show will be able to pull that off when the time comes. At least it makes me look forward to seeing what happens when those two interact.
For now, however, Panzy's presence helps us better understand the Demon Realm. For one thing, we know that each Majin possesses unique abilities, and while her ability may not seem very powerful, it casts a greater shadow on Glorio, as it means We haven't seen what he's capable of yet. We also learn that the Supreme Kai/Shin's demon race, the Glinds, have all but abandoned the Demon Realm for the outside world, making his presence here even stranger we thought initially and makes me wonder what will happen? the story is there.
Most importantly, we learn that Panzy is the daughter of the king of the Third Demon World, King Kadan, and can help introduce others to her father. Although he initially does not believe that Goku can be the warrior they need to take down King Gomah, when Glorio and Panzy decide to vouch for him, he immediately tries to marry Panzy to Goku, who immediately replies that he has a wife and kids and makes perhaps one of the funniest jokes in the entire episode (the real winner is that King Gomah hired a nanny for baby Dende because he needs him happy and healthy to carry out his evil plans, and I can only hope King Gomah maintains that energy for the rest of the series). While King Kadan does not insist on forcing Goku to commit adultery, he tests Goku's strength by pitting him against his best warriors. As has become the show's current standard, the fight looks pretty incredible, but I feel like there's only so much praise I can throw at it without it feeling redundant. If you liked the action of the last two episodes then it continues to deliver quite well.
That said, there is a moment where we see Goku briefly go Super Saiyan only to immediately return to his base form. Assuming it wasn't a dynamic change, I wonder if he hasn't adjusted well enough to his child's form to pull off a successful transformation. I hope that's the case as this would be another good way to set limits for Goku while also ensuring that Daima's actions can continue to rely more on physical combat than attacks energy, so hopefully that will end up where they go with this.
While Goku impressed King Kadan enough to get a new ship, this whole situation also makes Glorio even more suspicious of capital-S. Shin points out to Goku that he never informed King Kadan that the two of them had been turned into children, and despite claiming to have been sent by King Kadan, it seems more likely that Glorio reached him first. is the opposite. It's hard to tell whether Glorio is secretly working for someone else or operating according to his own agenda, but he's hiding something.
Those are concerns for the future, but in the meantime, it seems like Goku and the others still can't rest from air travel. As soon as they received a new ship, they almost immediately crashed because Panzy had brought too much luggage for the trip. It feels a little strange for the show to do that after they've spent so much time looking for a new ride. This is another solid, if not particularly noteworthy outing for Daima, and now that we have both new characters, I'm looking forward to spending more time getting to know them.
