Onmyoji’s ending theme song, Kioku, was just released and its melody captivates the true essence of the anime. The singer behind the song is an emerging Japanese artist named Ao. The song’s gentle, soothing melody creates an enchanting atmosphere, drawing the listener into a state of stillness and contemplation.
Onmyoji (陰陽師) is an upcoming Japanese Netflix original anime series that will be released soon. The film is adapted from the critically acclaimed novel of the same name by Baku Yumemakura. The 2D animated series will tell a story that combines history and magic, combined with an epic battle against fierce demons lurking around the world.
In the ending theme song’s video, a man is seen sitting at the end of a wooden bridge. That man is none other than Seimei Abe, the central character of the series. He is seen sitting in the same place as the days and seasons pass quickly. The scenic beauty is further enhanced by Ao’s enchanting voice, which helps the audience understand the meaning behind the gradual changes.
However, everything changed except the wisteria tree behind Seimei. It can represent things in our lives that do not change and never undergo any changes. Furthermore, the tree can also play an important role in the plot of the anime, representing certain aspects and central themes that the story revolves around. At the end of the video, Minamoto Hiromasa appeared with his usual cheerful self to keep Seimiei company.
Animated by Marvy Jack, the same studio that produced The Seven Deadly Sins, the story follows the legendary characters of Abe Seimei and Minamoto Hiromasa, both from Japan’s Heian period. Together, they confront humans who have turned into evil demons. The two team up in ancient Kyoto to defeat the wrath of evil spirits. Soubi Yamamoto, who also worked on This Boy Can Fight Aliens, will direct the show. Naruto Hashimoto and Yuiko Kato serve as scriptwriters.
