Bandai Namco Filmworks began streaming the full trailer for the film sequel Zegapain STA (Zegapain Statement Alpha) on Tuesday. The trailer announces the new cast and the film will be released on August 16.

As previously announced, Kengo Kawanishi will voice new character Hal Velt (character name not yet confirmed). Shintarō Asanuma, Kana Hanazawa, Ayako Kawasumi and Romi Park return from the previous anime as their characters Kyo Sogoru, Ryoko Kaminagi, Shizuno Misaki and Lu Sheng respectively.
Masami Shimoda returned from the previous Zegapain anime as director at Sunrise. Katsuhiko Takayama (Aldnoah.Zero, Ga-Rei: Zero, Looking Up At The Half-Moon) will write the film's script. Akihiko Yamashita returned as character designer, along with fellow character designers Tatsuya Suzuki and Marie Tagashira, the latter of whom served as character designer for new scenes in the series. Zegapain ADP composite film. Rei Nakahara, Noriyuki Jinguji, Takahiro Yamada and Hideki Fukushima all return from the previous anime as mechanical designers. Ayako Ōtsuka also returned to composing music.
The movie has two parts. The first season, titled “Reminiscence Arc”, recounts the animated television series Zegapain and the compilation film Zegapain ADP (Zegapain Adaptation). The second part. titled”Olta Moda Arc”, depicts the future after the final episode of the Zegapain television series. “Olta Moda Arc” is named after a “new force” in the world of Zegapain.
Zegapain STA is part of the franchise's new overall Zegapain Project Reunion initiative.
The origin story of the 2006 Zegapain television anime series follows Kyo, the only member of his high school swim team. To keep the team going, he recruited Misaki to make promotional videos for the club. She agrees, but only if Ryo pilots a machine under the direction of Celebrum, a resistance organization fighting to destroy the Deutera Sectors formed on Earth by the alien Gards-orm. Bandai Entertainment released the series as six DVD singles in North America between 2007 and 2008, and re-released the series as the Complete Collection DVD in 2009. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime in year 2013.
Zegapain ADP (Zegapain Adaptation), a compilation film of the Zegapain television anime with new scenes and characters, premiered in Japan in October 2016. The film commemorates the anime's 10th anniversary. The film will be re-screened for one week starting July 12 in three theaters in Japan.
