Forgot “Where is Waldo?” A Yuri!!! on Ice fans created a new scavenger hunt called “Where’s Victor?”
In this clever edit made by Yuri!!! on Ice fan @/pinksical, fans had to look closely to spot a wild Victor Nikiforov. In a recent photo of pop singer Taylor Swift hanging out with The Squad, the term fans have come up with to describe Swift’s famous close friends, including Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid, Victor is very expression and furry best friend Makkachin decided to tag along on the trip. The Russian figure skater made sure to dress appropriately to match the rest of the women, with a light blue blazer complementing a black V-neck shirt and white pants. The fan behind the edit did such an incredible job that one Twitter user believed “someone put a picture of Viktor” on the street.
Victor’s life before Yuri
Before meeting Yuri, Victor rarely had much downtime. He devoted his energy, time and everything to figure skating to the point that he neglected life and love. Aside from figure skating and trying to surprise everyone with his shows, he doesn’t do much but spend time with his dog Makkachin. While his apartment in Russia exudes luxury and expensiveness, fans have noted that it also feels neglected and cold. It wasn’t until he made the impulsive decision to go to Japan and train Yuri Katsuki after watching the Japanese figure skater slide his program with so much passion and sincerity that Victor discovered Discover what life and love are.
An original anime series created by Sayo Yamamoto and Mitsurō Kubo, Yuri!!! on Ice premiered in October 2016 with 12 episodes. This series is said to have become the anime that brought MAPPA’s name to the fore due to how critically acclaimed Yuri is!!! on Ice became during the broadcast and after. MAPPA later adapted popular manga into anime, including the final installment of Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Chainsaw Man. While Yuri!!! on Ice has received rave reviews for its accurate figure skating animations from notable figure skaters, including Johnny Weir and Evgenia Medvedeva, Yuri!!! on Ice clearly depicting the same-sex relationship between Yuri and Victor became the highlight. MAPPA announced an original film called Ice Adolescence in 2017 but later delayed its release.
