Yu-Gi-Oh! will get a new online e-commerce store following its growing popularity, promising rare cards and other special collectibles ahead of its official launch in late 2024.
Yu-Gi-Oh! license holder Konami Cross Media NY has announced a partnership with pop culture e-commerce company Zavvigroup Ltd. to launch a Yu-Gi-Oh! memorabilia store, via a press release. The stated goal is to increase global reach for fans of the franchise looking to purchase collectibles and memorabilia in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The store will have a soft launch this month before its official launch in time for the holidays.
New Yu-Gi-Oh Merchandise Store Aims at Global Franchise Fans
“We welcome Zavvigroup Ltd. to the Yu-Gi-Oh! family,” said Jennifer Coleman, Vice President (Licensing and Marketing) of Konami Cross Media, in making the announcement. “This new agreement will allow us to make on-demand Yu-Gi-Oh! POD (Print on Demand) products for fans in the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand, allowing us to reach a wider audience.” Print on demand refers to a production model that is based on an order being received, typically for customized or personalized products. Zavvigroup will be responsible for processing orders, printing, packaging, and shipping the products directly to the buyer.
Coleman continued, “As our e-commerce business continues to grow, we are committed to upgrading our website to provide the best online shopping experience for our fan community. With Zavvigroup Ltd. on board, they will be able to help us achieve this goal.” Joe Anderton, CCO of Zavvigroup Ltd., added, “It’s time to become the world’s greatest duelist and fans can do so with our wide range of Yu-Gi-Oh! merchandise. If fans are on the hunt for products based on the rarest cards or special collectibles, our Yu-Gi-Oh! line will help with that hunt!”
New Yu-Gi-Oh Collaborations Include Hello Kitty Happy Meals, Bear Walker Skate Decks, and More
Other recent Yu-Gi-Oh! collaborations include a limited edition collectible skateboard set from Bear Walker, inspired by some of its most powerful cards, as well as a back-to-school sock collection with HYP Hats, a Nanoblocks collection in collaboration with Kawada Co. Ltd., and more. The brand continued to make big waves this year with a Hello Kitty crossover collaboration with McDonald's Happy Meal toy collection.
Meanwhile, the card game has been a huge success, with sales up 40% year-over-year on eBay, with around 3,300 searches per hour on the platform for Yu-Gi-Oh! items in general. The 2024 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championships (WCS) recently crowned American Ruben Penaranda as world champion earlier this month, joining fellow champions Sebastian Villarroel (SPEED DUEL world champion), Marc-Andre Ladouceur-Kirkor (RUSH DUEL world champion), and the team of Ryan Yu, Jesse Kotton, and Raymond Dai as Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL world champions.
