A new cherry blossom teaser image has been released alongside the trailer featuring protagonist Miyo Saimori, whose encounter and companionship with the estranged but misunderstood Kiyoka Kudou brings the pair to a mutual healing. The series is adapted from the light novel of the same name by Akumi Agitogi, published in English by Yen Press, which currently has over nine million copies in circulation.
My Happy Marriage is one of Netflix's hottest properties, ranking second on Netflix's list of most-watched anime in the second half of 2023 with 13.2 million views. Despite being released over a year ago, the show still performed well in Netflix's latest anime data report for the first half of 2024. Delicious in Dungeon leads the chart, with Demon Slayer not far behind, while My Happy Marriage ranks 21st with an impressive 3.6 million views. The show stars Reina Ueda as Miyo and Kaito Ishikawa as Kiyoka, and Netflix's official description reads: “Miyo's abusive family treats her as worthless – but together with her powerful fiancé, her true nature and hidden strength gradually shine through.” Readers can check out CBR's review of My Happy Marriage, which praises the show for “beautifully portraying the true nature of trauma.”
