For most of the series' existence, Yu-Gi-Oh! has had many side games, but almost everyone knows that magic card battles have always been the most interesting and engaging subject. Especially since Kaiba invented the Duel Disk – a device that can display 3D images for monsters and cards, the battles have become even more eye-catching and worth watching. Although we know that this is just “fictional” technology, recently, Duel Disk has been unexpectedly recreated in real life in a way that no one thought of.
Specifically, a cosplayer named heyitsmomokun has just transformed into Yugi Muto in a very vivid way. His accessories are also very elaborate with an impressive wig recreating Yugi's iconic star-shaped hairstyle, his signature dark blue school uniform, and a copy of the Millennium Puzzle. But more importantly, he also equipped himself with a homemade Duel Disk device attached to this cosplayer's right arm. Notably, he also equipped himself with a rotating light that, when activated, can project images of cards, similar to what happened in the series.
In one Instagram clip, heyitsmomokun uses it to summon the Dark Witch and in another, he even summons the unstoppable God of Power.
Game developers and gamers alike have attempted to bring the Duel Disk from the manga to life through virtual and augmented reality. Konami itself showcased a number of VR experiences that pitted players against legendary monsters like the Blue-Eyes White Dragon at its Yu-Gi-Oh 25th Anniversary event in Tokyo earlier this year. The cosplayer, meanwhile, has created his own.
