Episode 3 of Yakuza Fiancé opens with Kirishima's face firmly planted in a girl's vagina, which is a bit awkward when I join a bus. You'd think by now I'd know not to watch spicy movies like this on public transport, but I can't seem to learn my lesson. The appeal of using that time was too much, and now here I am, feeling like I've just committed a sex crime.
That makes me wonder – will there ever be pussy licking on screen? a TV cartoon? I've seen many fan shows where the unlucky main character falls straight into a girl's crotch, and of course, the extremely tactless use of metaphors in Yury Kuma Arashi, but there is Which TV viewer has ever seen the image of an unabashed guy munching on some pussy? Some investigation (asking people on social media) revealed that no, Gainax's raunchy comedy Ebichu beat it by 25 years, and Ikkitousen followed suit a few years later. However, it is a rare thing and a testament to the bravery of the Yakuza Fiancé. Furthermore, it's amazing to see a guy pleasing a woman rather than stabbing a guy in the eye with a fork. Makes you think.
But the important thing was that the glove that Kirishima was happily slipping into was not Yoshino's but a random girl's. Oh, he wished it were so, which he happily expressed to the girl he was sleeping with, leaving her confused and disappointed. This leads to him breaking into Yoshino's apartment to watch her sleep and see her when she is not angry. This prompted another confused and frustrated conversation. Yoshino insists she doesn't hate Kirishima; she just doesn't understand him. He is moody and willful, unwilling to do anything that doesn't interest him. What interests him tends to be strange or violent.
And really, Kirishima is an interesting character. Despite his innocent actions in the first episode until expressing his true masochistic desires, he is often as naive as a child. His sense of right and wrong is completely distorted, based entirely on his own preferences and desires rather than any consideration of the humanity of others or the rules of society. His sense of empathy is warped to the point of mental illness, but he is not aware enough of others to be manipulative. There's something really terribly wrong with him.
Meanwhile, it becomes increasingly clear that this is a yakuza story rather than a yakuza relationship movie as a backdrop. When the guild bosses meet for a quarterly social gathering, something is happening that could lead to our disaster leading to being drawn into a conflict, whether they want to or not. or not. In the meantime, though, it feels like a gathering of old friends. The balanced story shows that these old men, dangerous criminals though they may be, are still human in their old relationships and friendships. Old photos of them look like the guys were hanging out, and they greeted each other with affection and… well… gifts. Sure, those gifts are opium, but it's the thought that counts, right? However, as human as their relationships are, they operate on a completely different moral axis than most of society.
Nothing emphasizes this more than the appearance of Shoma Toriashi, Yoshino's childhood friend, Somei clan member, and the other guy from the OP and ED. I know I said that Akira Ishida has no right to voice a teenager but he sounds more youthful than Kōji Yusa, who plays Shoma with the rugged appearance of a 50-year-old. Shoma was brought into the family at the age of 13 after attacking his boss while drunk and/or high on drugs, so he and Yoshino have known each other since they were children. Yoshino naturally expressed her disappointment in Kirishima to him, as one would with a long-time friend, and he offered to kill Kirishima for her. Because in his world, that's what you do if someone is a nuisance.
Before I go, I want to note that between Yakuza Fiancé and DAN DA DAN, this is a landmark season for grandpa lovers. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's Ristorante Paradiso and Stardust Crusaders are no longer your only options. This season, everyone, please eat well. Congratulation.
