A synthetic AI chatbot getting wrong information? Never could have guessed…
Creative AI is all the rage right now, from Chat GPT and Copilot's for text documents and Stable Diffusion and DALL-E for artwork. While these tools can generate a template for processing, they are far from reliable, especially when it comes to written documents. X's (formerly Twitter's) generative AI program, Grok, once again shows us why these programs can't be trusted as they recently announced that journalist Chris Beveridge is the director of Laid-Back Camp season 3. Beveridge posted about the Grok incident on his Bluesky account on April 22. His post contained a screenshot of Grok's post, and Beveridge said that in fact, he did not must be the director of Laid-Back Camp season 3.
I guess I should clarify that I *NOT* directed the English dub of Laid-Back Camp's anime for Crunchyroll.

Supposedly this is a screenshot from Grok so the article cannot confirm it. However, we need to question even more about Grok's ability to publish articles. For example, Grok announced the third season of Laid-Back Camp premiered on Crunchyroll on April 18 at 1 p.m. However, the series premiered on April 4. Crunchyroll only began streaming the English dub on April 18 in a tweet stating that the series would premiere later that day.

The release date and Beveridge's role as director of Laid-Back Camp weren't the only pieces of information Grok got wrong. The show confirmed Mallorie Rodak is voicing the character Raphael in the series. Unfortunately, while Rodak is an excellent voice actress, she does not voice Raphael because there is no such character in Laid-Back Camp. Rodak is actually voicing Raphael in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Crunchyroll announced an English dub at the same time. It's clear that there are major problems with X's synthetic AI.
It seems doubtful that many people took Grok's post about Laid-Back Camp at face value. In fact, the post was followed by a message that read, “This story is a summary of posts on X and may evolve over time. Grok can make mistakes, verify its output,” anyone should double-check verified sources to ensure what is being produced is accurate information. Yes, it is a bit time consuming, but when it comes to general AI articles, you should be extra careful. As for Beveridge's directorial debut, we'll have to wait a little longer.
