Netflix has announced that the upcoming Terminator Zero animated series will premiere globally on August 29, 2024. The company also shared the first four images of the animated series.
The series will consist of a total of eight episodes and will be part of the overall Terminator universe. However, the story will focus on new characters not in the movie. This will be the first animated part of the series.
Production IG is responsible for the series' animation, with Masashi Kudo (Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War character designer) serving as director. Mattson Tomlin (Project Power, The Batman II) joins as showrunner, executive producer and writer. Skydance's David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger are serving as executive producers.

Terminator Zero was first announced as an untitled anime series in February 2021.
Netflix describes the series' synopsis as:
2022: A future war has raged for decades between a handful of survivors and an endless army of machines. 1997: An AI named Skynet gains self-awareness and begins a war against humanity.
Caught between the future and the past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee, who is working to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet's impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by a relentless assassin from the future who forever changes the fate of his three children.
