The anime previously revealed a version of the opening credits-free. We also had the chance to chat with the show's producers, who praised their staff as 'the most amazing people ever assembled'.
The anime is based on the manga by Fujino Omori (who also wrote Danmachi) and illustrated by Toshi Aoi. The series began serialization in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine on December 9, 2020, and has since published 10 volumes. Kodansha USA has licensed it in English, while Crunchyroll is streaming the anime adaptation. They describe the story:
A hard-working boy named Will enters a magic academy with the hope of becoming a great wizard. Unfortunately, there is a fatal flaw in his plan: he lacks the ability to use magic. Amidst the cold stares of his classmates and instructors, Will sometimes feels discouraged but he still moves forward with unwavering determination. He cannot use a wand, but he can use a sword in battle to reach the top of a world dominated by magic. He just needs to believe in his unique power and remember the promise he made to someone precious to him…
