Pokemon cards are becoming increasingly valuable. Some of them are sometimes bought for millions of dollars due to their rarity and “limited” label. However, this sometimes also increases the number of thefts and attacks on stores and warehouses by thieves with the aim of owning this valuable “treasure”.
For example, recently, a warehouse in Newton Aycliffe, England owned by director Adrian Marsden was broken into on June 14. It didn't take long for Adrian to discover a hole in the back of his company's warehouse. A large amount of inventory, valuable Pokemon cards were stolen and the total damage is estimated to be more than $1 million (about more than 25 billion VND) – a large number and causing Adrian's company to suffer. Even more daring, just two weeks later, the group of thieves returned and stole a truck full of goods and Pokemon cards.
CCTV footage from outside the warehouse shows six thieves breaking in, one of whom tilted the camera to their advantage. After ransacking the warehouse for 45 minutes, the gang loaded a nearby truck with stolen Pokemon cards and other merchandise before fleeing. The damage to Adrian’s business was now even greater.
Despite witness statements, a crime scene examination and a review of CCTV footage, the case remains unsolved. Fortunately, insurance covered the stolen valuables, but Adrian admits that the theft “completely destroyed” his business.
