Studio CloverWorks' new crime anime series is making waves and it recently surpassed Tokyo Revengers in ratings.
When you think of crime, gangs, school and anime, the first movie that comes to mind is Tokyo Revengers, and rightly so, as it is the most famous crime series. The series has a total of 1.2 million members on MyAnimeList (MAL).
Following the release of Tokyo Revengers season 3 in October 2023, there has been a dry spell when it comes to the crime series. The Winter anime season saw the release of Bucchigiri, but it failed to attract attention and fans, with a below average rating of 6.66/10.
However, the spring anime season is proving to be different with the release of Wind Breaker, a beautiful animated series from CloverWorks, best known for its work on Bocchi the Rock, Spy x Family and Horimiya.
Wind Breaker currently has a rating of 7.95/10 on MyAnimeList, surpassing Tokyo Revengers' 7.93/10. The series recently released its second episode and caused a spike in ratings.
It seems like many fans are waiting to see how good episode 2 will be, since sometimes anime series get dropped after the first episode. However, the second episode of Wind Breaker also brought improvements in terms of plot and animation quality.
Wind Breaker tells the story of Haruka Sakura, who is bullied and ignored by those around him because of his appearance, because he is black. and white hair, pupils and eyes of different colors. The only way Sakura knew how to deal with this bullying was to fight, and that's what he did.
Now, Sakura has joined Furin High School, which is known to have the best warriors. Sakura's goal is to become the top warrior of this school.
If the plot grabs your attention and you want to check out the series, Wind Breaker is currently streaming on Crunchyroll. The series will have a total of 13 episodes.
