When mentioning the classic work Journey to the West, fans often only remember the four teachers and students Tang Tang. In fact, there is another character in their group, but that person receives little attention. That is Bach Long Ma.

Bach Long Ma (also known as Little White Dragon) – son of Tay Hai Dragon King (brother of Dong Hai Dragon King). Bach Long Ma’s real name is Quang Tan, the Third Crown Prince of Tay Hai Long Palace.
In the novel, Bach Long Ma has a wife, Princess Van Thanh, who has an affair with the Nine-Headed Insect, causing the Third Crown Prince to angrily destroy the night pearl given to him by the Jade Emperor. Because the Third Crown Prince damaged the treasure given by the Jade Emperor, his father reported it to heaven, so he was hung on Heaven’s door to wait for death.

Thank goodness The Bodhisattva passed by and asked the Jade Emperor to let him transform into a horse to help Tang Monk request sutras to atone for his sins. In Journey to the West it is written as follows: “Avalokitesvara said: I obeyed the Buddha’s form and went to Dong Do to find someone to request sutras. I met a dragon whose crime was being hung, so I went in to beat him and asked Your Majesty to forgive that dragon’s sins and let him follow me to support the heels of those who requested sutras. Work hard to atone for your sins.
God heard the song and commanded the heavens to open and bind the evil dragon and hand it over to the Bodhisattva. Guanyin gave thanks, and the little dragon also bowed and thanked him. Quan Am led the little dragon down the mountain and said: Stay in this ravine, and wait for the sutra-reciting teacher to pass by, and he will turn into a golden horse to support his heels. The baby dragon obeyed and waited there.”
Since then, this crown prince has become Bach Long Ma accompanying four teachers and students of Duong Tang.

Few people know that Bach Long Ma has something similar to Duong Tang. That is, if eating Tang Monk’s meat has the ability to live forever Drinking the urine of Bach Long Ma can also live a long life. This is clearly shown in the episode where Sun Wukong heals the king of Zhou Zi. Wukong took a mess of medicines to prepare, including the white horse’s urine.
In the story, Bach Long Ma said: “Senior brother, don’t you know? I am a dragon flying in the West Sea. Just because I violated heaven’s magic, I was saved by Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara, sawed off my horn and stripped off my scales, turned into a horse, and carried my master. I went to the West to get the sutras and made merits to atone for my sins. When I crossed the river and urinated, fish swam in the water. If I drank it, I would turn into a dragon. When I climbed the mountain, I urinated, and when I watered the mountain rib grass, it would turn into Ganoderma grass, and the fairy would pick it up. make longevity medicine. So I wouldn’t carelessly urinate indiscriminately in this mundane place!”.

From this information, Sun Wukong used Bach Long Ma’s urine as an important medicine to treat the king’s illness. The king immediately cured his illness after using the medicine created by Wukong, and his stomach and skin were gently circulated. Thus, the successful treatment is thanks to Bach Long Ma’s urine.
2 reasons why monsters ignore Bach Long Ma
But, even though Bach Long Ma’s wastewater was so effective, the monsters in Journey to the West only sought to capture Tang Tang instead of choosing their master’s horse. Why?
1. Not an ordinary background
As stated above, Bach Long Ma was originally the son of Tay Hai Dragon King, one of the four gods known as Tu Hai Dragon King. They are described as gods with dragon heads and human bodies who rule over the seas and rivers, and more broadly, the four seas in the four directions of East, West, South, and North.

In terms of strength, the dragon clan is in the upper class. Dragons are inherently noble species, with full control over the waters they rule. With such an ordinary background, it’s no wonder the monsters don’t dare touch Bach Long Ma.
2. Bach Long Ma’s urine only helps to live long
The effect of Bach Long Ma urine has been confirmed by the owner as having the ability to help longevity. In addition, this water also turns fish into dragons and young rib grass into lingzhi grass. Through this, we can see, Drinking Bach Long Ma’s urine can only make you live long but not immortal.

In fact, the monsters in Journey to the West all have relatively long lifespans. They essentially don’t need anything to increase their lifespan. What these monsters want is immortality and eating Tang Tang is the only way. Because Tam Tang is the next life of Kim Thien Tu – the second disciple of Buddha Tathagata, so he has an extraordinary life and has been cultivated for tens of thousands of years, so the monster believes that just a piece of meat can immortalize him. death.
In addition, Sa Tang, when he was still a monster in Luu Sa Ha, once said that he used the bones of people who went to collect sutras to string them into necklaces. This means that Sa Ngo Tinh had eaten 9 previous lives of Tang Monk, or more accurately, Kim Thien Tu. The Tang Monk can be reborn over many lifetimes and is considered immortal.
However, for monsters, Bach Long Ma’s urine only helps to live long and cannot bring immortality like eating Tang Tang’s meat. (Photo: Sohu)
After comparison, we see that using Bach Long Ma’s urine to help longevity has a better effect on humans. It’s not very effective against monsters. Of course, the monsters will choose to eat Tang Monk instead of capturing Bach Long Ma.
