Episode 9 of the yuri anime adaptation Whisper Me A Love Song won't be out anytime soon as the show's website has announced it will air two special recap episodes on June 8 and 15. premiered on June 22, instead Japan, with “production circumstances” said to be the reason for changing the broadcast date.
While specific details about the production status of Whisper Me A Love Song are unknown, the delay is not completely unexpected given the show's poor production quality and early signs of trouble — in addition missing the opportunity to produce the program. At the time of its initial release in January 2024, the anime had a director change due to the status of the original selector and saw the credits of Yokohama Animation Lab changed from supervising animation production to animation co-production studio (with Cloud Hearts) before broadcasting begins.
Coincidentally, the announcement of the Episode 9 delay comes on the heels of a rather viral — and error-ridden — video by Topic X (formerly Twitter) that attempted to paint a picture of the troubled anime production process. hard. While this development may seem to vindicate that theme, it is worth noting that the theme makes claims that cannot be scrutinized. For example, the credits for Episode 7 show that the concert scene features nine key animators—along with a handful of second key animators and an unknown number in between—instead of “ 2-4 people” was declared. It also writes that “the entire Yokohama Animation Lab team has left the project,” despite the internal status of Episode 5 and the studio's (varying) involvement in other episodes.
This topic also provides a distorted image of outsourcing—a topic that Sakuga Blog delved into in a 2021 article—and anime production in general by claiming that each episode has The “production levels” vary due to the series having multiple production houses. Outsourcing does not inherently cause such a thing, and differences or drops in production quality within the same program do not require outsourcing to occur.
